The irony not lost on anyone, Trump’s ambassador to Canada, Pete Hoekstra, found himself with no lift back to Ottawa after attending the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attack. The highly controversial invite was defended by many saying that politics has no place in the remembrance of a tragedy. Over 266,000 Canadians disagree, as the number of signatures on the petition demanding that he be expelled, continues to swell. Hoekstra is currently trying to arrange a flight but may be forced to bum a lift into town to find lodgings. The Country Inn motel is booked solid, the Albatross, forget it. There is one room left at the Sinbad Suites... but they don’t take American Express. Hoekstra may face the reality that so many of his countrymen faced 25 years ago. Word is there’s some soup at the local rec centre.
