Cezanne’s ‘Pears with Stickers’ sells for record 225 million.

Christie’s -
The art world was rocked last week when a newly discovered work by the impressionist master was discovered. ‘Pears with Stickers’, is believed to be the missing work of the artists fabled still life series. Experts were amazed at the condition of the piece that had been hanging in a small produce store in the artists hometown, Aix-en-Provence. “In Cezanne’s era, produce stickers were crudely attached to individual pieces of fruit. Often with a basic animal-based paste or sometimes simple nailed to the item.” Said a curator at the Museum of Modern Art. The painting was quickly put up for auction and sold to an anonymous buyer in the UAE.
