QC -

The uniquely Canadian question – Just how petty can the cultural protection laws in Quebec become? has been answered. The government in la belle ProvInce has spoken from on high its distinct plateau to decree that anyone panhandling or asking tourists for money must now dress in classic French mime costume. “It seems, to us, it was the next, how you say, logical step to preserve our French heritage, said a ridiculously overpaid ‘cultural officer’. The ruling has also changed many traditional French mime classics, ‘Walking against the wind’ is now – Please may I have a loonie so I can eat? Also the time honoured – ‘Eating an apple in an annoyingly exaggerated fashion’ is now – Give me money for drugs or I will harm you.
