Newfoundlanders facing long wait times for surgery turn to Kenny who’s “pretty good with a jig.”
Bonavista –
Roughly 136,000 people don’t have access to a family doctor in Newfoundland. Communities find themselves competing with each other to attract doctors with money and land, but there may be an untapped resource to handle to growing number of day-surgery cases – Kenny Dort, local fisherman and UFO expert. “I’m still damn handy with a jig! Haven’t been much on the cod-fishing for a bit but I’m sure I could handle a rotted appendix or gall bladder! And I’ll do it for a reasonable price.” Wary at first of the offer, Newfoundland’s Health Minister is considering it.
