Quebec’s Couche-Tard bids to take over 7-11... also has no regrets about calling itself “Couche-Tard.”
Montreal -
“Oui, we don’t care that to the Anglais it sounds like a horrible insult, also “Dipp-Shitt” was taken.” Said a spokesperson for the popular Quebec convenience store chain. Of course, Quebec’s stringent language laws will demand that if the company wants to continue with the well known American brand name, it will have to change it to “Sept-Onze.” The spokesperson went on to say - “This is tres difficile because calling someone a “Sept-Onze” in French is considered the height of rudeness, it’s an, how you say, out-dated expression alluding to someone being mentally challenged, so we’ll probably just stick with Couche-Tard.”
