First beaver born in U.K. in centuries immediately killed to make top hat.
London –
Despite having some of the most compassionate animal rights laws in the world, tradition got the better of an enthusiastic mob at the Broughton Sanctuary near Skipton, England, where the first baby beaver was born in 400 years. “Oy! We love bloody top hats and no poofter tree hugger is gonna tell us whots whot!” Said Oliver Chatsworth, a local amateur butcher. Beavers once swam freely in the Thames but were hunted to near extinction for their fur. They were also part of England’s controversial ‘Beaver Hunt’, much like the infamous Fox Hunt. The Beaver Hunt was finally banned but tee-shirt sales remain robust.
